Many vacationers come to this resort town to find the very best cruises from Galveston. Most likely you are here because possibly you are planning to drive to this town rather than fly. It is here where you will discover what cruise lines depart here as well as, where they will be visiting and over how many days for your vacation. You also may want to know how to get to the port and where to park your car. Welcome aboard on finding cruises from Galveston for your dream vacation.
There are only two cruise lines that depart from Galveston. They are Carnival and Royal Caribbean International cruise companies. Both frequently offer discounted ticket prices throughout the year based on ship occupancy. Carnival is often considered the ‘fun ship’ and has a younger crowd and many families. It is considered more affordable than Royal Caribbean but I wouldn’t call it cheap. Not to say that Royal Caribbean isn’t fun as it often said to be more ‘classy’ as one critic said. If you have children or a large family, Royal has an award winning Kids Club. So parents, you can have some time to yourselves! Be on the lookout as you zero in on the date of your vacation because both companies will come out with last minute, special bargain packages for 2011.
Whatever company you choose, both with travel to either the Western Caribbean or the Eastern Caribbean. In the Western Caribbean you will visit places like Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Cozumel, and Belize. If you choose to go the Eastern route you and experience exciting ports of call in Key West, Freeport, and Nassau. All these places are beautiful, warm and filled with fun! It all depends on how much time you have to spend in the sun.
You may be looking for a short excursion just to get away from it all or you may want something longer that feels like a vacation. Carnival offers 4 to 7 day trips while Royal Caribbean trips are more like 7 to 9 days. It really depends on how many places you want visit and how long you want to be at sea sipping on one of those drinks with an umbrella.
To get to the cruise terminal please check your cruise documents to see which terminal you will check in at. The Texas Cruise Ship Terminal at the Port of Galveston is located at Harborside Drive and 25th Street, on Galveston Island. There are four parking garages near the port but I would recommend you just use the one at the port. Parking at the Port has both covered and uncovered parking. The cost is $45 for cruise that are 3 nights, $50 for 4 nights, and $70 for 7 nights. The lots are close and has shuttle buses to transport you to the terminal.
I really hope you enjoy one of the cruises from galveston.
My company out of Houston sponsored a team building seminar aboard Royal Caribbean in 07. We found cruising from Galveston a wonderful experience. My family is planning a reunion next year on a cruise. I highly recommend this form of vacation. YOu can't beat the level of service on a cruise ship.

Hi. If you decide to go in the summer there are some what of a chance of poor weather. However, many of the cruise lines will offer cheaper rates if you ask them. You might want to ask a travel agent too.

Does anyone know when a good time of year to cruise out of Galveston? I hear that you will be taking your chances if you go during the summer with hurricanes and all. I am a teacher and get the summer off so I would like to take my vacation then.

My sister and I went on a Royal Caribbean cruise out of Galveston two years ago and now I want to go again. The Caribbean is so awesome! We went to the East Caribbean but I would like to try the Western Caribbean this time. It is so cold right now where I am from so I need some sunshine now!

Hi! We took a cruise out of Galveston last year with Carnival. This is my third cruise trip but my first out of the Galveston port. My husband and I found that it was so much less of a hassle departing from there then New Orleans.
