In 2011, thousands will flock to the Port of Galveston to board those massive cruise ships headed for the sunny waters of the Caribbean. There is only two Cruise Lines to choose from and both offer incredible deals for most vacationers. Carnival is know as the party ship and my not suit all tastes. Royal Caribbean, however, is known to be a bit more classy and a bit more luxurious than Carnival. Don’t get me wrong, that doesn’t mean its stuffy. Royal Caribbean is extremely fun and offers more than you can fit into any cruise vacation. The two main ships that depart from Galveston, TX are the Voyager of the Seas and the Mariner of the Seas. Both are considered a Voyager Class, similar in design, and are rated highly by the critics. Voyager Class ships are like a floating cities offering more in terms of facilities, dining, entertainment and activities. These ships are famous for having a skating rink, a rock climbing wall, nine hole miniature golf course, full size basketball, volleyball, paddleball courts for those of you that like to be active. All these places are warm year round so that you can escape those cold days in the US. If just laying on the beach or shopping for sales at these ports are not enough you, can always choose from a variety of shore excursions that accommodate any budget.
Now you may be wondering about how much it is going to cost. Royal Caribbean cruises out to Galveston offers 7-9 day cruises starting at $479 a person. Now that is just a starting price and I am sure you could find better. Last year, cruise ships had trouble filling their cabins due to the economy, this year expects the same. Another way is to contact a travel agent that specializes in cruises. You might have thought that Travel agents are a thing of the past. Not True.
